Australian Accounting conferences to look out for in 2026

Whether you’re just starting out in the industry, or you’re a seasoned accountant, conferences are a great way to connect, learn and be inspired by Australian and overseas professionals looking to provide insight into the world of accounting. 2025 saw a range of conferences both in-person and online, aimed to bring together accountants and auditors alike to exchange ideas and learn from some of the best in the industry.

If you’re looking to upskill your own abilities and that of your team, conferences can be a tangible option that encourages collaboration and a way to energise your approach to your accounting firm. You’ll be able to sharpen your technical skills, stay ahead of industry regulations, find out more about business growth options (like new technology or outsourcing tasks etc) to free up time to focus on exciting aspects of your services, and develop new skills to accelerate your firm’s growth. Here are the conferences to look out for in 2026 so you can plan ahead to make this next year your best one yet.

SMSF Association National Conference

Held at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia from February 18-20, 2026, this conference will be available both in-person and virtually, allowing attendees to tune in from across the country. Delving into the world of superannuation and how it impacts accountants, topics that are to be covered will be ranging from superannuation compliance, income tax and legal issues for accountants of all experience levels, strategic planning, retirement and estate planning, and interactive sessions in their workshop portion of the day.

If you prefer to take the virtual route, there will be a curated playlist available to view that spans over two days of the conference and includes live and on-demand streaming of the speaker’s presentations. For those attending in person, there are three days of a range of content including specialist sessions and a leadership breakfast. You are also encouraged to join in the morning yoga sessions and a final day luncheon used to connect with other attendees and speakers.

Accounting and Business Expo (AU)

The International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney is playing host to the Accounting and Business Expo on the 18th-19th of March 2026 and is set to bring together accounting professionals, financial experts, bookkeepers and more together to exchange ideas used to shape the future of the industry. The expo portion of the conference will have attendees being able to view and interact with cutting edge technology and connect with providers to gain knowledge on how the latest tools can shape their firm’s future. Networking will be a primary portion of the conference allowing those who attend to join together and swap ideas while developing new professional relationships.

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand

Advancetrack was a proud sponsor of the CA ANZ 2025 Accounting and Auditor virtual conference and 2026 is proving to be filled with opportunities to attend conferences from Chartered Accountants. Two of note are the Elevate Your Impact 2026 conference which prioritises a high-energy, future-focused learning experience over the course of two days and is completely online, encouraging attendance from across the Tasman. What makes this particular conference different is that they are gathering leading psychologists, technology experts, and world-renowned coaches to encourage attendees to feel empowered, adaptable to change, and become thriving in the technological field.

Another CAANZ conference to look out for is the Accounting Conference set to be streamed to all online participants on the 21st of May 2026. More information will be provided as the date draws closer and will likely be as engaging and collaborative as this year.

AFAANZ Conference

The Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand will play host to attendees from Melbourne and across Australia at Pullman Albert Park Hotel on the 5th until the 7th of July 2026. Their mission is to promote and maintain excellence in the fields of pedagogy, practice, and policy in accounting with a focus on teaching and development used throughout the conference.

In the past, the AFAANZ has held conferences in Queensland and New Zealand, shifting focus to Victoria in 2026 to expand their reach to the southern states. In 2025, they had 437 members and exhibitors register with 260 AFAANZ members present their informative findings to attendees. Next year, expect to see a large range of talks combined with exciting social engagements designed to bring first-time attendees and industry leaders together for networking opportunities.
